Advanced Material Handling – a Prerequisite for Optimal Logistics
Advanced Material Handling – a Prerequisite for Optimal Logistics
One of the challenges faced by logistics is being in the right place at the right time. Increasingly, it is becoming more and more important for companies to synchronize their logistics processes in such a way that material movements run automatically as far as possible. At the same time, the flow of materials is made so transparent that it can be retraced at any time.
In response to this challenge, J&M has developed the advanced material handling (AMH) approach. This integrates various logistics solutions, such as handling unit management (HUM), labelling, radio frequency identification (RFID) and supply chain event management.
Benefits of Advanced Material Handling
- Reduced costs due to the efficient use of resources.
- Minimization of costs due to automatic object identification and business process triggers.
- Increased efficiency due to mobile real-time solutions rather than paper-controlled logistics processes.
- Greater customer satisfaction due to optimal tracking and tracing along the internal and external supply chains.
- Greater customer satisfaction as errors can be avoided in good time instead of having to be recognized and rectified after having occurred.
- Increased flexibility due to improved transparency and ability to give information.
- Increased ability to react due to event-managed supply chain processes.
Management Consulting
- Creation of a business case
J&M uses the business case to assess the benefits, costs and ROI of the AMH project. The implementation steps are adjusted according to the customer’s situation.
- Development of RF technology concepts
J&M develops concepts for integrative RFID scenarios and for solutions in the area of mobile data processing – in particular regarding warehouse management, inbound and outbound processes and production.
- Development of SCEM concepts
The solutions developed by J&M in the area of supply chain event management (SCEM) enable the job status to be controlled in real-time.
- Development of handling unit management (HUM) concepts
As they are extremely transparent, J&M’s concepts for packaging-controlled logistic procedures using HUM increase the efficiency of the supply chain as a whole.
IT Consulting
- IT and process design
J&M develops “intelligent” labelling solutions and radio-frequency scenarios for mobile data processing in the material flow processes.
- Implementation
The customer’s IT tools are adjusted to suit the processes. In addition, J&M develops added functions in the areas of HUM and RFID. The validity of the processes and the IT systems is checked meticulously before going live.
- Going-live and rollout
Using the Enabler-KPI-Value® network method, J&M calculates KPI’s which are then used to control the benefits of the implemented processes and systems during the rollout.
